Joe Ramrath is a founder and managing Director of Colchester Partners LLC, and investment banking and strategic advisory firm serving the needs of investment management firms and their professionals. Prior to the formation of Colchester Parners in 2002, Joe was a senior executive and General Counsel of United Asset Management Corporation, a NYSE listed investment management organization.

Earlier in his career, Joe was a partner of Hill & Barlow, a Boston law firm, a certified public account with Arthur Andersen & Co. and an adjunct professor at Boston  College Law School. Joe is also a director of The Hanover Group (NYSE: THG), a holding company for several property and casualty insurance companies, which together constitute one of the largest insurance businesses in the United States. Joe received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Babson College and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

Joe, his wife Debi, their three daughters and grandchildren live in Massachusetts. Joe is also a member of the board of Rural Water Venture's partner in Nicaragua, Agua Para La Vida, is on the Boston Leadership Council for Save the Children, and serves on the Advisory Board for the Center Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership at Babson College.
