Joseph R. Ramrath is a founder and Managing Director of Colchester Partners LLC, an investment banking and strategic advisory firm serving the needs of investment management firms and their professionals. Prior to the formation of Colchester Partners in 2002, Mr. Ramrath was Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of the United Asset Management division of Old Mutual plc, an international financial services firm headquartered in London, England, from 2000 to 2002. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of United Asset Management Corporation (UAM) from 1996 until its acquisition by Old Mutual in 2000. UAM was a NYSE company and one of the largest independent investment management organizations in the world with over $200 billion in assets under management.

Mr. Ramrath also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Boston College Law School. Earlier in his career, Mr. Ramrath was a partner of Hill & Barlow, a Boston law firm, and a certified public accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. Mr. Ramrath is also a director of The Hanover Group (NYSE: THG), a holding company for a group of insurers that includes The Hanover Insurance Company, based in Worcester, MA, Citizens Insurance Company of America, headquartered in Howell, Michigan, and Chaucer Holdings plc, based in London. Mr. Ramrath received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with high honors from Babson College in 1977, and a Juris Doctor degree, summa cum laude, from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1985.
